JetBlue United Blue Sky: What It Means for Indians
📅 Updated as of 3 Oct 2026. Blue Sky is being rolled out in stages; we’ll update this post as new features go live.
JetBlue and United’s Blue Sky partnership is now mostly live. It’s a US story, but if you fly within the US on trips from India, or collect United miles through your Indian cards, a few parts are useful.
What’s live now
| Feature | Live since |
|---|---|
| Earn and redeem on each other: TrueBlue points on United’s global network, MileagePlus miles on most JetBlue flights | 23 Oct 2025 |
| Book each other’s flights on jetblue.com, united.com and both apps | Feb 2026 |
| Shared elite perks: priority check-in, security and boarding, a free checked bag, preferred seats and same-day standby | 14 May 2026 |
| One ticket across both airlines | Announced, no date yet |
| United flights from JFK using JetBlue slots (up to 7 daily) | As early as 2027 |
The India angle
- You can earn United miles from India. Axis Bank cards transfer EDGE Miles to United MileagePlus (Group A, so the yearly Group A cap applies), and Marriott Bonvoy converts to United at 3:1, plus 10,000 bonus miles for every 60,000 points.
- Those miles now work on JetBlue. Handy for domestic hops in the US, such as New York to Florida, Boston or the Caribbean, where JetBlue has more flights than United.
- TrueBlue is still out of reach. No Indian bank transfers to JetBlue. If you fly JetBlue, you can credit the flight to MileagePlus instead.
- United and Air India are both Star Alliance, so MileagePlus miles also work on Air India, and United flies Newark–Delhi. Check fares and award space on united.com.
DealUni take
Nothing to do unless you’re planning a US trip. If you are, and you hold Axis EDGE Miles or Marriott points, price your internal US flights in United miles on both United and JetBlue before paying cash. For long-haul awards from India, Star Alliance partners like Air India usually matter more than JetBlue. Our guide to airline credit cards in India covers the cards that earn these miles.
America ka khel, par miles apne kaam ke. (An American tie-up, but the miles can still work for you.)
