Alaska 110% Bonus: Is Buying Atmos Miles Worth It From India?
Updated as of 29 Oct 2026. Sale terms from Alaska Airlines’ Atmos Rewards buy-points offer. Award prices and taxes from seats.aero, and cash fares from Google Flights, all checked 29 Oct 2026. US$1 = ₹94.43.
No Indian card transfers to Alaska Airlines’ Atmos Rewards, so buying points is the only way in. Until 7 November, Alaska is selling them with up to a 110% bonus. That’s worth it for a handful of awards where Atmos charges little and adds almost no fuel surcharges: Qantas business to Australia, JAL First to Tokyo, Finnair to Europe and Royal Jordanian out of Doha. The standout: Royal Jordanian business from Doha to Athens via Amman for 15,000 points, about ₹32,500 against a ₹1.35 lakh cash fare. Here’s what the points cost in rupees, and where they beat paying cash.
The sale
- Bonus: up to 110% on points bought until 11:59pm Pacific time on 7 November 2026 (1:29pm IST on 8 November). Your bonus shows when you log in; some members may see less.
- Price: US$35 per 1,000 points plus 7.5% US tax, sold through Points.com.
- Limit: up to 250,000 points a year before the bonus during the sale (normally 150,000), in steps of up to 100,000 per purchase.
- From India: anyone can join Atmos Rewards for free and pay with an Indian card. Bought points don’t count towards status.
⚠️ Heads-up: Alaska blocks Indian internet connections. From an Indian connection, alaskaair.com shows only an error page (“Looks like we hit some turbulence”) and you can’t sign in. A VPN set to the US may get you in, but Alaska’s security also blocks many VPN addresses, and it blocked us too. Check that you can sign in and search before you buy any points; if you can’t reach the site, you can’t book these awards.
What a point costs in rupees
| Bonus you see | Per point | With 2% + GST forex | Magnus for Burgundy, AEP month |
|---|---|---|---|
| 110% | US$0.0179 (₹1.69) | ₹1.73 | about ₹1.42 |
| 100% | US$0.0188 (₹1.78) | ₹1.82 | about ₹1.49 |
The standout: Doha–Athens in business for 15,000
- The award: Royal Jordanian business from Doha to Athens with a stop in Amman (RJ651 and RJ131, about 6 hours 50 minutes), for 15,000 Atmos points + US$70 in taxes. That’s about ₹32,500 with bought points.
- Cash for the same flights: US$1,432, about ₹1.35 lakh, one way.
- Not the Qatar nonstop: Atmos charges 75,000 for Qatar’s Doha–Athens nonstop in business. The 15,000 price is only on the Royal Jordanian connection, which is a regional business seat, not a flat bed.
- How often: seats.aero showed 15,000 on about 200 dates between November 2026 and September 2027, usually with 1–2 seats. The same 15,000 also goes to Istanbul and Cairo via Amman.
- From India: Chennai–Doha–Athens on Qatar business with Qatar Avios costs 72,000 Avios + ₹23,580 (about ₹1.06 lakh), all on Qatar. Reaching Doha separately (Qatar Avios 26,000 in business, or cash) and adding the 15,000 Atmos leg brings it to about ₹62,400 plus the Doha flight’s taxes, with a slower trip via Amman.
- Booking India–Athens on Atmos in one go: Chennai shows nothing. Mumbai–Athens shows on Royal Jordanian via Amman (RJ193 and RJ131) for 50,000 points + US$55 in business, about ₹91,700, but with a 21-hour wait in Amman, and it rose to 130,000 on a May date. That’s no better than Gulf Air’s ₹94,000 cash fare, so skip it.
- Coming back: seats.aero didn’t show Athens–Doha on Atmos, so plan the return separately.

At ₹1.73 a point, Atmos points are expensive. They only make sense for awards that need few points and carry low taxes, against a high cash fare. Four that do:
Where Atmos beats cash
| One way | Atmos award | Cost at ₹1.73 | Cash fare | You save |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delhi–Melbourne, Qantas business nonstop | 75,000 + US$63 | ₹1.36 lakh | ₹2.45 lakh | about ₹1.1 lakh |
| Bangkok–Tokyo Haneda, JAL First* | 75,000 + US$55 | ₹1.35 lakh | ₹3.9 lakh | about ₹2.5 lakh |
| Delhi–Helsinki, Finnair business nonstop | 60,000 + US$44 | ₹1.08 lakh | ₹1.96 lakh | about ₹88,000 |
| Doha–Athens via Amman, Royal Jordanian business | 15,000 + US$70 | ₹32,500 | ₹1.35 lakh | about ₹1 lakh |
Where it doesn’t
- Mumbai–London on BA business: 60,000 + US$55 costs about ₹1.09 lakh against a ₹1.34 lakh fare. That’s a small saving for a lot of bought points.
- India to the US: Atmos shows mostly BA routings via London at 85,000 + about US$1,586 in surcharges. Skip.
- Short hops: Chennai–Colombo business is 15,000 + US$42 (about ₹29,900) against a ₹32,300 fare. Mumbai–Doha is 7,500 in economy only via Muscat (about ₹17,100, against IndiGo’s ₹19,450 nonstop); the Qatar nonstop is 15,000 in economy or 32,500 in business.
- Qatar to North America: Doha–Boston on the Qatar nonstop is 150,000 in business. Skip.
What to do
| You are… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Planning Australia in business | ✅ Find the Qantas seat first, then buy 75,000 points per person before 7 Nov |
| Flying via Bangkok to Japan | ⚠️ JAL First at 75,000 is huge value if it’s real; confirm it on alaskaair.com before buying points |
| Starting a trip in Doha | ✅ Royal Jordanian business to Athens, Istanbul or Cairo via Amman for 15,000 |
| Want Qatar business all the way from India to Athens | ✅ Use Qatar Avios (72,000 from Chennai), not Atmos (75,000 from Doha alone) |
| Holding Magnus for Burgundy | ✅ Buy in a month you’ve crossed ₹1.5 lakh to bring the cost to about ₹1.42 |
| Bonus shows less than 100% | ❌ Don’t buy |
| No trip in mind | ❌ Don’t buy points “just in case” |
Always find the award seat on alaskaair.com first (see the heads-up above), then buy only what you need. For other ways to fly to Australia, see our Finnair Bangkok–Melbourne post, and for India–Europe business, Aeroplan’s 40,000 in our Aeroplan guide is cheaper.
DealUni take: a good sale for specific trips, not a points stockpile. Qantas business to Australia at 75,000 is the most reliable win, and Doha–Athens in Royal Jordanian business for 15,000 is the cheapest. Check JAL First on Alaska’s own site before counting on it. Points kharido sirf tab, jab seat dikh jaaye. (Buy points only once you’ve found the seat.)
