Finnair has started flying its A350 from Bangkok to Melbourne, every day. The flight continues from Helsinki, but Finnair also sells Bangkok–Melbourne on its own. For Indians, that makes Bangkok one more easy stop on the way to Australia, and right now it’s the cheapest flat bed to Melbourne we could find.

- AY146 Melbourne–Bangkok: leaves 3:40pm, lands 8:50pm.

The catch: two tickets means no protection if your first flight is late, and a long day in Bangkok. With a 12-hour gap, the risk is small, and a day-use hotel or lounge makes the wait easy. From Delhi, Mumbai or Bengaluru, any cheap flight to Bangkok works the same way.
On points: no Finnair seats yet
Finnair is a oneworld airline, so this flight should be bookable with Avios through Qatar Airways, British Airways or Finnair Plus, and Axis, HSBC, HDFC, Amex and Kotak cards transfer to Qatar Avios. But when we searched Qatar and British Airways for Bangkok–Melbourne, no Finnair seats came up. Award space may open later; until it does, these one-stop options from the hubs are what you can book on points today:
