Quick Hits: Taj 20% Off, Amex Lounge Rules, Axis Changes
Updated as of 15 Oct 2026. Three things worth knowing this week, each checked against the official page.
Taj: 20% off festive stays until 30 November
Taj’s Festivals of India offer gives Taj InnerCircle (NeuPass) members 20% off stays that include breakfast and one main meal a day, plus 20% off food, drinks and spa during the stay. You also earn up to 8% back in NeuCoins.
- Book and stay by: 30 Nov 2026. Rooms are limited and blackout dates apply.
- Book on: the offer page itself. NeuCoins come only from Taj’s website, the Tata Neu app or the hotel directly.
- Not valid at: Taj Wellington Mews, Atmantan and Taj’s hotels outside India. Gala dinners and themed meals are excluded from the 20% food discount.
Worth it for a Diwali or wedding-season trip where you’d eat at the hotel anyway. Compare it with the plain member rate first, as you would with the ITC shareholder offer.
Amex Platinum Travel: lounges now need spend
From 1 Oct 2026, the Platinum Travel card’s 2 free domestic lounge visits a quarter are no longer automatic. You earn them with spend in the quarter before.
| Spend in | Needed | Unlocks visits in |
|---|---|---|
| Jul–Sep 2026 | ₹70,000 | Oct–Dec 2026 |
| Oct–Dec 2026 onwards | ₹1 lakh a quarter | The next quarter (Jan–Mar 2027 onwards) |
₹1 lakh a quarter is ₹4 lakh a year, the same spend that unlocks the card’s 10,000-point milestone, so heavy users won’t notice. If you spend less, your lounge access is gone. Amex India has also paused new applications for this card. More Amex changes arrive on 15 Nov; see what Amex cardholders must do.
Axis: three dates to note
| From | What changes | Cards |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Oct 2026 | Spends in reward-excluded categories (rent, fuel, insurance, utilities, wallets, gold, education, government, gift cards) no longer count towards the ₹3 lakh yearly milestone for extra lounge visits, golf and Priority Pass renewal | SELECT |
| 1 Nov 2026 | Movie buy-one-get-one needs ₹25,000 spend in the previous 3 months (new cards exempt for 3 months) | SELECT and other cards |
| 15 Nov 2026 | Free memberships, including Priority Pass, renew only if you give consent when Axis asks | SELECT, Magnus, Magnus for Burgundy, Burgundy Private, Reserve, Olympus and others |
Also in force since 28 Aug 2026: Priority Pass no longer works at domestic lounges in India (use the card itself), road tolls earn no points, and the markup when you pay in rupees abroad (dynamic currency conversion) rose to 2% on Magnus and Magnus for Burgundy and 3.5% on SELECT. Always pay in the local currency abroad.
The 15 Nov consent rule is the one to watch: if you ignore Axis’s renewal message, you could lose Priority Pass. Magnus for Burgundy’s accelerated earn above ₹1.5 lakh a month isn’t affected, which still makes it the card to pay for Aeroplan’s 90% sale.
