Hilton 120% Bonus: Buy Points at ₹0.44 Each, Worth It?

Updated as of 8 Oct 2026. Offer terms from Hilton Honors. Rupee figures use US$1 = ₹96.34 (DealUni FX sheet). Award prices are the live examples from our Hilton guide for Indians.

Hilton is selling points with a 120% bonus, its biggest ever. Buy 10,000 points and you get 22,000. That brings the price down to about 0.4545 US cents, or ₹0.438, a point before forex fees, assuming your account shows the full 120% bonus. We value Hilton points at ₹0.35–0.45, so this is right at our valuation. It isn’t a buy-and-hold deal. It’s worth it only if you have a specific stay where points beat cash.

The maximum, 240,000 points plus a 288,000 bonus, costs US$2,400, about ₹2,31,216, before your card’s forex markup.

The real cost from India

0% (zero-forex cards)₹0.438
2% + GST (Axis Magnus range)₹0.448
3.5% + GST (most cards)₹0.456
Calculated from US$0.01 ÷ 2.2 × ₹96.34, without rounding the dollar price first. GST is 18% of the forex fee, not the entire purchase. Card rewards are separate, conditional value—not an instant discount; see the Magnus for Burgundy example below.

Axis Magnus for Burgundy: before and after AEP

Example: buy 50,000 Hilton points for US$500 and receive 110,000 with a confirmed 120% bonus. At ₹96.34/USD, the purchase is ₹48,170; 2% forex plus 18% GST on that fee adds ₹1,137, for a bill of about ₹49,307 (₹0.4482 per Hilton point). Paying with Magnus for Burgundy does not reduce this bill.

Conservative illustration using 240 complete ₹200 blocks of purchase principal. Actual reward rounding and credit can differ; forex fees and GST earn no rewards. Airline-mile value is illustrative, not cash returned, and excludes any transfer fee, annual fee or redemption taxes.

Conditions matter: the purchase must post in the same calendar month, be an eligible Points.com merchant transaction, and remain inside your AEP earning band. Axis caps 35-point earning at cumulative eligible spend equal to your credit limit plus ₹1.5 lakh; later spend reverts to 12 points. If this purchase crosses a threshold, only the portion inside the 35-point band earns that rate. AEP is credited later, not immediately. Check the posted MCC and current exclusions; no rewards are guaranteed just because points are sold in dollars. Pay in USD, avoid dynamic conversion to INR, and pay the statement in full.

Illustrative cost attributable to the required points at ₹0.4379 each, before forex markup; actual purchases must use the denominations offered, so unused surplus may increase the cash outlay. These are earlier examples from our Hilton guide, checked 4 October, not fresh availability quotes. The Maldives row is a five-night standard-room illustration with Silver-or-higher fifth-night-free eligibility; confirm taxes, mandatory resort transfers and other extras separately.

The pattern from our Hilton guide holds. Hilton’s cheaper business hotels and expensive beach resorts give good value per point. Its luxury city hotels in India usually don’t. Check your hotel and dates on hilton.com in both points and cash before you buy.

How to buy the right amount

  1. Find the stay first. Search hilton.com with “Use Points” and note the total, remembering that Silver and above get the 5th night free on qualifying five-night standard-room stays booked entirely with points.
  2. Subtract what you have, including points your family can pool to you. Hilton lets you pool with up to 10 people for free.
  3. Divide the gap by 2.2 to get how many to buy. For a 25,000-point gap, the mathematical minimum is 11,364 base points. Round up to an available purchase denomination: if buying 12,000 is offered, you receive 26,400 for US$120 (₹11,561 before forex), leaving 1,400 points.
  4. Check the bonus on the buy page before you pay. If you see 100%, your offer is targeted lower.
  5. Book soon after. Hilton has raised award prices several times since 2021, and could again.

Big stays: The 640,000-point Maldives example would exceed one account’s 528,000 total even with a 240,000 enhanced purchase allowance. Eligible family members could buy within their own remaining allowances and pool; round purchases up to available denominations, check pooling eligibility and confirm award availability first. At the exact sale rate, the required points represent about ₹2.80 lakh before forex and transfers.

Who should buy, who should skip

You…Do this
Are planning a Maldives, Abu Dhabi or other resort stay in the next year✅ Price it in points now; compare the signed-in sale rate with your stay’s cash price
Stay at Hilton Garden Inn or DoubleTree in Indian cities✅ Worth it for nights you’ve already planned
Want points “for later”❌ Skip. Hilton keeps raising prices, and unused points expire after 24 months of no activity
Mostly stay at Conrad or Hilton in Indian cities❌ Cash is usually cheaper

DealUni take

At about ₹0.44 a point before forex, this is the best Hilton points sale yet, but Hilton points are cheap for a reason. Buy only for a stay you’ve already priced, ideally a 5-night resort booking with the 5th night free, and book it straight away. If you can’t name the hotel and the dates, let this one go. There will be another sale.

Sasta hai, par zaroorat ho tabhi lo. (It’s cheap, but buy only if you need it.)
