Air India Elite? Status Matches From ₹5,600, oneworld Included
Updated as of 22 Oct 2026. Terms and tier mapping from the Enrich, SAS and Etihad status match FAQs on statusmatch.com, checked 22 Oct 2026. US$1 = ₹94.97, €1 = ₹106.61 (20 Oct 2026); your card’s forex markup and GST come on top.
Have Air India Maharaja Club status? Malaysia Airlines will sell you the matching Enrich tier for 12 months, and that means oneworld status: lounges and priority on Qatar, British Airways, Cathay, JAL, SriLankan and the rest of the alliance. Platinum, which is oneworld Emerald, costs about ₹33,100. No end date has been announced, and it’s once per lifetime.
| Your Air India tier | Enrich tier you get | oneworld tier | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Maharaja Club Silver | Silver | Ruby | US$89 (₹8,450) |
| Maharaja Club Gold | Gold | Sapphire | US$199 (₹18,900) |
| Maharaja Club Platinum | Platinum | Emerald | US$349 (₹33,100) |
The rules
- Who: Air India Maharaja Club Silver, Gold or Platinum members who aren’t Malaysian nationals and aren’t already Enrich elites. Air India Express (NeuPass) status doesn’t count. Since 21 Oct, Lufthansa Miles & More, Korean, Asiana, Vietnam and Garuda elites can apply too.
- How: join Enrich (free), then apply on the status match site with your Enrich ID and proof of Air India status. Answer within 5 business days; fee refunded if rejected.
- Validity: 12 months from approval, to the end of the 12th month. After that you drop to whatever you’ve earned with Enrich Elite Points.
- Once per lifetime, and you can’t upgrade the match later. If your Air India tier is about to go up, wait until it shows before applying.
- Platinum’s Companion Privilege isn’t included for matched members.
Cheaper matches for Air India elites
Enrich is the only way we found to turn Air India status into oneworld status. But if you mainly want lounges and extra bags on other airlines, two matches open to Indian residents right now cost a fraction of it:
| Match | Works on | Air India Gold gets | Air India Platinum gets | Valid for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SAS EuroBonus | SkyTeam (Air France, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, SAS, Vietnam, Korean) | Gold = Elite Plus, €79 (₹8,400) | Diamond = Elite Plus, €159 (₹16,950), or Gold for €79 | Rest of your EuroBonus year + 12 months (up to about 2 years) |
| Etihad Guest | Etihad only (no alliance) | Silver US$59 (₹5,600) or Gold US$99 (₹9,400), depending on your Air India tier | 4 months; +12 months if you fly one Etihad return | |
| Malaysia Enrich | oneworld (Qatar, BA, Cathay, JAL, SriLankan…) | Gold = Sapphire, US$199 (₹18,900) | Platinum = Emerald, US$349 (₹33,100) | 12 months |
Not open to Air India members from India right now: Flying Blue (its India offer has ended), Royal Jordanian and Royal Air Maroc (they don’t accept Air India status), and Air Astana.
So: fly Air France or KLM to Europe? Take SAS Gold for ₹8,400. Fly Etihad via Abu Dhabi? Etihad Gold for ₹9,400. Pay ₹33,100 for Enrich only if your trips are on Qatar, BA, Cathay or other oneworld airlines.
Is it worth it?
Air India Gold and Platinum already give you Star Alliance Gold. So the question is simple: how often will you fly oneworld in the next 12 months? Emerald gets you first-class lounges, fast track and extra bags on oneworld flights, even in economy. Two or three return trips on Qatar via Doha, SriLankan via Colombo or Cathay via Hong Kong, and ₹33,100 pays for itself in lounge visits and baggage. Fly oneworld once a year, and it doesn’t.
| You are… | What to do |
|---|---|
| Air India Platinum, flying Qatar, BA or Cathay several times a year | ✅ Buy Platinum (Emerald) and time it before your busiest 12 months |
| Air India Gold with a couple of oneworld trips planned | ⚠️ Gold (Sapphire) at ₹18,900 gets business lounges; worth it at 3+ trips |
| Air India Silver | ❌ Ruby gets you little; skip |
| Flying Air France, KLM or SAS more than oneworld | ❌ Look at SAS Gold for €79 instead |
| About to upgrade your Air India tier | ⏳ Wait, then apply; the match can’t be changed later |
DealUni take: a genuine shortcut to oneworld Emerald for Air India Platinum members who fly Qatar, BA or Cathay often. Everyone else should look at SAS Gold (₹8,400) or Etihad Gold (₹9,400) first. It’s once per lifetime, so spend it in the year you’ll fly oneworld most. Ek baar ka mauka, sahi saal chuno. (A one-time chance: pick the right year.)
