Rove Miles From India: 22 Partners, but Is It for You?
Updated as of 20 Oct 2026. Partners, ratios and bonuses are from Rove’s own transfer page (checked logged in, 20 Oct 2026), its promotions blog and its terms of use and programme terms.
Rove Miles keeps popping up in Indian points groups, usually with a tip to “get a US number on Tello and sign up”. Rove is a free US rewards programme with no credit card attached, and it now transfers to 22 partners, including Air India Maharaja Club and Thai Royal Orchid Plus at 1:1. Here’s what it is, who can actually use it, and why the Tello trick isn’t the shortcut it looks like.
What Rove Miles is
- Hotels: up to 25–30 miles per US$ when you book through Rove. A one-night stay at a US$554 Boston hotel showed 30x, about 15,100 miles, on our account.
- Flights: 1–10 miles per US$ on top of the airline’s own miles.
- Shopping: a portal with 13,000+ mostly US online stores, plus a Chrome extension and gift cards.
- Dining: 3–10 miles per US$ at participating restaurants in some US cities, with a linked card.
- No expiry: miles don’t expire for inactivity while your account is in good standing.
Think of it as a US shopping and hotel-booking portal that pays you in transferable miles instead of cashback.

Hotels: check the price before chasing 40x
We searched Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Bali, Tokyo and Singapore on Rove with the Most miles earned sort (one night, 27–28 Oct 2026, 2 adults). Then we priced the same night on Google Hotels and on Gondola. All figures include taxes, converted at ₹94.82 to the dollar.
| Hotel | Rove (all-in) | Market price | Rove vs market | Rove Miles |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Peninsula Bangkok (24x) | ₹41,870 | ₹46,490 | 0.9x | 9,672 |
| Park Hyatt Saigon (15x) | ₹63,741 | ₹65,050 | 1.0x | 9,380 |
| Rosewood Bangkok (24x) | ₹32,482 | ₹31,100 | 1.04x | 7,232 |
| Le Méridien Saigon (46x) | ₹1,97,353 | ₹1,91,335 | 1.03x | 94,501 |
| Sofitel Singapore Sentosa (38x) | ₹73,719 | ₹63,140 | 1.2x | 24,683 |
| The Tokyo Station Hotel (33x) | ₹1,16,025 | ₹66,100 | 1.8x | 36,036 |
| Evergreen Place Siam, Bangkok (44x) | ₹30,948 | ₹7,368 | 4.2x | 13,889 |
| Puri Sebali Resort, Ubud (44x) | ₹58,190 | ₹9,745 | 6.0x | 25,995 |
| The Concept Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City (46x) | ₹41,565 | ₹6,621 | 6.3x | 19,477 |

The 40x-plus hotels aren’t generous, they’re overpriced. On those three you pay roughly ₹1.7 to ₹1.9 extra for every Rove Mile you earn. Even with this month’s 50% JAL bonus, that’s about ₹1.2 to ₹1.3 per JAL mile, which is what an airline charges in its own buy-miles sale. At the big brands, Rove’s price was within about 5% of the market, so 15x to 24x is close to free.

Rove vs cashback portals
| Portal | Booking.com hotels | Hotels.com | Expedia hotels |
|---|---|---|---|
| TopCashback | 6% | 8% (15% new customers) | 15% |
| Rakuten | 6% | 3% | 3% |
- Big-brand hotel priced near market: Rove wins. About 22 Rove Miles per dollar is a 35 to 40% return if you value JAL miles at ₹1.2. Cashback gives 6 to 15%.
- 40x-plus hotel at a 4 to 6x markup: cashback wins easily. Puri Sebali at ₹9,745 minus 6% is ₹9,160. On Rove the same suite is ₹58,190.
Use the Loyalty eligible filter
Rove’s Loyalty eligible filter shows brand rates at Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton and IHG hotels. These earn a flat 5x Rove Miles, but you also earn your hotel points and get elite perks such as breakfast, upgrades and late checkout. Rove doesn’t say whether these stays count as elite night credits, so check with the chain if you’re chasing status.
The prices were fair in Bangkok: Park Hyatt Bangkok was ₹36,381 on Rove against ₹39,992 elsewhere, and The St. Regis Bangkok was ₹35,688 against ₹34,193.

Our rule: always check Google Hotels first. If Rove is within 5 to 10% of the best price, take the miles (or the loyalty eligible rate if you have status). If it’s 2x or more, book elsewhere and use cashback or points.
Who can actually join
Rove is clear about this. Its terms say: “You must be a resident of the United States to create an account”, you must be 18 or older, and the phone number and details you give must be accurate and kept up to date. It’s not open to people living in India.
| You are… | Rove for you? |
|---|---|
| An Indian living in the US: student, H-1B, green card holder | ✅ Yes. Earn on US shopping and hotels, then move miles to Air India for trips home or to Qatar and Etihad for one-stop routes |
| Family of someone in the US | ⚠️ They can earn and transfer to their own airline account. Most airlines only let you transfer to an account in your own name |
| Living in India | ❌ Not eligible under Rove’s terms |
The Tello trick: why we don’t recommend it
Apps like Tello give you a cheap US phone number that works from India, and that’s enough to get past Rove’s signup screen. It doesn’t make you a US resident, though. Rove’s terms ban misrepresenting information and let it close accounts and cancel miles for it. You’d be building a balance that Rove can take away at any point, including the moment you try to transfer.
For readers in India, the same partners are already reachable from Indian cards, and those miles are safe:
- Air India Maharaja Club: 1:1 from ICICI Emeralde Private and Times Black, SBI Card MILES and HSBC TravelOne. See our Air India transfer partners page.
- Qatar, Etihad, Turkish, Flying Blue, Aeroplan, JAL: from Axis, HDFC and HSBC cards. Use our transfer calculator to find your best route.
DealUni take: Rove is a genuinely useful free programme with a partner list that suits Indian travellers, especially Air India and Thai at 1:1. If you live in the US, sign up and route your hotel bookings and online shopping through it. If you live in India, skip the Tello workaround: you’d be breaking Rove’s terms for miles you can earn more safely on an Indian card.
