📅 Updated as of 21 Oct 2026

⛔ Deal Ended — the LifeMiles buy-miles sale with up to 145% bonus closed on 20 Oct 2026. We’ve kept this post for reference: LifeMiles runs similar bonuses several times a year, and the card-to-pay and price-per-mile maths still applies.

Updated as of 13 Oct 2026. Prices from the LifeMiles buy-miles page in our own account on 13 Oct 2026. Rupee figures use US$1 = ₹96.71 from our FX sheet. The sale ends 20 Oct 2026.

LifeMiles is selling miles with up to a 145% bonus. At the top tier that’s 1.35 US cents a mile, about ₹1.30 before forex. That’s close to the best LifeMiles price this year, and LifeMiles is one of the few ways to fly Star Alliance business from India without fuel surcharges. Here’s the maths, a real award it pays for, and the best card to buy with.

From our LifeMiles account on 13 Oct 2026. Past sales used the same bands (up to 20,000, 21,000–50,000 and 51,000–2,00,000 miles bought), so 145% should apply from 51,000. Maximum 2,00,000 miles per purchase. Billed in US dollars only; the payment summary for our India-registered account showed US$1,815 with no tax added, though LifeMiles’ terms say some countries pay tax on top.

What 1,34,750 miles buys

On 13 Oct we found Delhi to Frankfurt in Lufthansa business, via Munich, for 34,800 miles + US$57.86 one way, with LOT via Warsaw at the same mileage. At this sale’s price that’s about ₹45,300 of miles plus ₹5,600 in taxes, roughly ₹51,000 for a one-way business seat to Europe with no fuel surcharge. So 1,34,750 miles would cover three such one-ways, with miles left over. Compare that with the cash fare for your dates; it’s usually several times more.

Best card to pay with

LifeMiles bills in US dollars, so forex markup matters as much as reward points. Here’s what each card gives back on the 55,000-mile purchase (US$1,815, about ₹1,75,500):

CardForex + GSTPoints earned (our value)Net backReal cost per mile
Axis Magnus for Burgundy, accelerated month (already above ₹1.5 lakh spend)–₹4,14230,718 EDGE = 24,574 miles at 5:4 (₹24,574)+₹20,432 (11.6%)₹1.15

Axis Atlas (2X)–₹7,2493,511 EDGE Miles = 7,021 miles (₹7,021)–₹228 (break-even)₹1.30
DealUni estimates. Forex markup from each bank’s terms: Magnus and Infinia 2%, Amex and Atlas 3.5%, HSBC Premier 0.99%, Burgundy Private and BOBCARD Etihad Premium 0%, all plus 18% GST. Points valued at ₹1 a partner mile (Amex MR at ₹0.58 as Taj vouchers up to ₹1 via transfers). LifeMiles may not code as travel, so we’ve used base and overseas rates, not travel accelerators.
  • Magnus for Burgundy wins, but only in an accelerated month. The 35 EDGE per ₹200 rate applies to spend above ₹1.5 lakh in the calendar month. If this purchase is your only big spend, the first ₹1.5 lakh earns the normal 12 per ₹200, so time it for a month when you’re already past the threshold. Mind your yearly Group A/B transfer caps.
  • Stack the Axis overseas campaign. Axis is giving vouchers on foreign-currency spends until January 2027, and a US-dollar LifeMiles purchase is a foreign-currency transaction. See our Axis overseas spends post.
  • Zero-forex cards (Burgundy Private, BOBCARD Etihad Premium) are the safe pick if you don’t have Magnus for Burgundy.
  • Skip Atlas for this one: the 3.5% forex wipes out the earn.

Buy or transfer?

HDFC Infinia, Diners Black and Regalia Gold can transfer to LifeMiles, reportedly at 2 points to 1 mile. If you value HDFC points at ₹1, that’s ₹2 a mile, so buying in this sale at about ₹1.30 is cheaper. Keep your HDFC points for better partners.

Should you add LifeMiles+?

LifeMiles+ subscribers get no extra bonus on this purchase. The 145% is the same for everyone. The subscription helps on the other side, when you redeem:

  • 10% fewer miles on Star Alliance awards, on every plan. Delhi–Frankfurt business drops from 34,800 to 31,320 miles, saving about ₹4,500 a ticket at this sale’s price.
  • Free changes and cancellations on Basic (US$50 a month) and above, through LifeMiles’ call centre or chat.
  • Miles stay valid for 24 months instead of 12 while you subscribe.

The cheapest plan, Lite, costs US$20 a month for a minimum of six months. After counting the 3,000 miles it gives you, the discount costs you about ₹7,700, so it pays off from two awards. If two of you are flying business to Europe and back (four awards), subscribe to Lite, buy fewer miles in this sale, and cancel before it renews. For one ticket, skip it. Don’t buy a subscription as a way to get miles: its miles cost 2–4 cents each, versus 1.35 cents here. Full breakdown in our LifeMiles guide.

Who should buy

You are…Do this
Planning Star Alliance business from India to Europe, Turkey or the US✅ Search LifeMiles for seats first. If they’re there, buy just enough miles (51,000+ for the 145% tier) and book the same day
Holding Magnus for Burgundy in a big-spend month✅ Best case: about ₹1.15 a mile all-in
Thinking of “stocking up” for later❌ Don’t. Miles expire after 12 months without earning activity, award prices change, and some accounts get security holds after purchases
Flying economy❌ Usually pay cash; economy awards rarely beat ₹1.30 a mile

Our verdict: a good sale for one job, business class to Europe without fuel surcharges. We value LifeMiles at ₹0.70–1.10 for everyday use, so at ₹1.30 this only makes sense when you’ve already found the award. Then it’s excellent.
