World of Hyatt Guide for Indians: Cheap Luxury Nights, Status
Updated as of 21 Oct 2026 (added the full points-transfer rules and the Aeroplan dual-earning offer). Prices as of 15 Oct 2026. Award and cash prices are live examples for one night on Friday 20 Nov 2026, two adults, searched on 15 Oct 2026. Cash prices include taxes. US$1 = ₹95.06 (14 Oct 2026).
World of Hyatt is the smallest of the big hotel programmes, and the one points collectors love most. Its points are worth roughly double a Marriott or Hilton point, and in India they go further than almost anywhere: a Hyatt Regency in Delhi or a Hyatt Centric in Mumbai can cost 7,500 points for a ₹35,000–40,000 night. The catch? No Indian credit card transfers to Hyatt. Here’s how the programme works, what’s changed in 2026, and how Indians can still make it pay.
The short version
- A Hyatt point is worth about ₹1.50 on average (DealUni value), but ₹3–5 at many Indian city hotels.
- The award chart survived, but it now has five price levels instead of three (from 20 May 2026).
- From today (15 Oct 2026), you can send points to any Hyatt member online, free. Family pooling just got easy.
- No Indian card transfers to Hyatt. You earn from stays, by buying points for a specific booking, or from a family member’s balance.
- Globalist (60 nights) is the status to want: breakfast or club access, suite upgrades and free parking on awards. Explorist (30 nights) now unlocks an Aeroplan status challenge.
The 2026 award chart
Hyatt still publishes a chart, unlike Marriott and Hilton. Every hotel sits in a category from 1 to 8, and since 20 May 2026 each category has five prices, depending on how busy the date is. Hyatt says only a few hotels will use the Upper and Top prices in 2026; expect more of them in 2027.
| Category | Lowest | Low | Moderate | Upper | Top |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 3,000 | 4,500 | 6,000 | 7,500 | 9,000 |
| 2 | 6,000 | 7,500 | 10,000 | 12,000 | 15,000 |
| 3 | 8,000 | 12,000 | 15,000 | 17,500 | 20,000 |
| 4 | 12,000 | 15,000 | 20,000 | 22,500 | 25,000 |
| 5 | 15,000 | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 |
| 6 | 20,000 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 | 40,000 |
| 7 | 25,000 | 30,000 | 35,000 | 45,000 | 55,000 |
| 8 | 35,000 | 45,000 | 55,000 | 65,000 | 75,000 |
- Points + Cash: half the points plus a cash amount. Useful when you’re a few thousand points short.
- Suites and club rooms on points: a standard suite costs from 6,000 (Cat 1) to 96,000 (Cat 8) a night.
- Upgrading a paid stay: 3,000 points a night for a club room, 6,000 for a standard suite, 9,000 for a premium suite.
- No resort fees on award stays, for every member.
What a Hyatt point is worth in India: real examples
| Hotel (20 Nov 2026, 1 night) | Points | Cash (incl. taxes) | ₹ per point |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hyatt Centric Juhu Mumbai | 7,500 | ₹41,300 | 🟢 ₹5.51 |
| Hyatt Regency Delhi | 7,500 | ₹37,666 | 🟢 ₹5.02 |
| Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa | 30,000 | ₹1,20,840 | 🟢 ₹4.03 |
| Hyatt Regency Chennai | 4,500 | ₹15,340 | 🟢 ₹3.41 |
| Andaz Delhi (Aerocity) | 7,500 | ₹25,488 | 🟢 ₹3.40 |
| Alila Kothaifaru Maldives | 30,000 | ₹96,988 | 🟢 ₹3.23 |
| Park Hyatt Chennai | 7,500 | ₹18,880 | 🟢 ₹2.52 |
| Grand Hyatt Goa | 20,000 | ₹41,300 | 🟢 ₹2.07 |
| Hyatt Centric Candolim Goa | 10,000 | ₹11,918 | 🔴 ₹1.19 |
The pattern: big-city Hyatts in India are mostly Category 1–2 but charge five-star cash prices, especially on weekdays and during wedding season. That’s where Hyatt points shine. Goa beach hotels on weekends are the exception: check the cash price first.
Hyatt in India
Hyatt has about 55 hotels in India and says it plans to roughly double that. You’ll find Park Hyatt (Chennai, Hyderabad), Grand Hyatt (Mumbai, Goa, Kochi, Gurgaon), Andaz (Delhi Aerocity), Alila (Fort Bishangarh, Diwa Goa), plus plenty of Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Place hotels in smaller cities like Hampi, Dehradun and Dharamshala.
Category changes in May 2026 for India: Hyatt Centric Hebbal and MG Road Bengaluru, Hyatt Ronil Goa and Hyatt Place Candolim went from Category 1 to 2. Hyatt Regency Dehradun went from 2 to 3. Hyatt Regency Dharamshala dropped from 5 to 4.
How Indians earn Hyatt points
| Route | How it works | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Paid stays | 5 base points per US$ (2.5 at Hyatt Studios), plus 10–30% for elites. A ₹15,000 night (about US$158) earns about 790 points, worth about ₹1,185. | ✅ About 8% back, more for elites. Book direct or you earn nothing. |
| Points from family or friends | Online transfers between any two members from 15 Oct 2026, free. | ✅ The big 2026 change. See below. |
| Buying points | 2,000–55,000 a year, billed in US$. Full price is about 2.6 US cents (₹2.47); the last sale (to 5 Oct) was 2.08 cents (₹1.98). | 🟡 Only for a specific booking (see the maths below). |
| Aeroplan points | 2 Aeroplan = 1 Hyatt point, but only for Aeroplan elite members. | ❌ You turn ₹2.60 of Aeroplan into ₹1.50 of Hyatt. |
| Indian credit cards | None. Hyatt’s card partners are all in the US. | ❌ |
When buying Hyatt points beats paying cash
Our rule is simple: buy points only for a booking you’ve already found. Hyatt in India is where that rule pays off. Take the Hyatt Regency Delhi at 7,500 points or ₹37,666:
- 7,500 points at full price: US$195, about ₹18,500, or about ₹19,000 with a 2% forex markup and GST on it.
- Cash: ₹37,666. Buying the points saves about ₹18,600, roughly half.
- Hyatt Centric Juhu on the same night: points cost about ₹19,000 against ₹41,300 in cash.
Check two things first: that the award is actually available on your date, and that the cash rate isn’t lower on a members’ or bank offer. Award nights still count towards elite status.
New: send Hyatt points to anyone, online
Until now, combining points meant a PDF form signed by both members, emailed to Hyatt, and a wait of up to a few weeks. From 15 October 2026, you can transfer points to another member directly on hyatt.com.
- Who: any two World of Hyatt members. You don’t need to be family or share an address.
- Cost: free.
- Limits: up to 525,000 points sent and 525,000 received per account per calendar year; minimum 1,000 points, in steps of 500; one transfer a month and six a year per account. Both accounts must be at least 60 days old, so open a new family member’s account now if you want to pool into it later. Transfers are usually instant but can be held for up to 10 business days for review.
- Why it matters in India: one paid stay rarely earns enough for a free night. Now a couple or a family can pool points from separate stays into one account and book a Category 2 night in Delhi or Mumbai.
Separately, you can still book an award in someone else’s name using your points, and gift up to 55,000 bonus points a year in blocks of 1,000.
Elite status: what you get
| Tier | Qualify (per year) | Key benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Member | Free to join | Points on stays, free Wi-Fi, no resort fees on awards |
| Discoverist | 10 nights or 25,000 base points | 10% bonus, preferred room, 2pm late checkout |
| Explorist | 30 nights or 50,000 base points | 20% bonus, room upgrades (not suites or club), 2pm checkout, 72-hour room guarantee; unlocks the Aeroplan 25K challenge |
| Globalist | 60 nights or 100,000 base points | 30% bonus, breakfast or club access, standard suite upgrades (also on award stays), 4pm checkout, free parking on awards, resort fees waived on paid stays |
Milestone Rewards are where Hyatt beats rivals: at 30 nights you get a Category 1–4 free night, at 40 nights a Guest of Honor award (you give a friend Globalist benefits for their stay), at 50 nights two Suite Upgrade awards, and at 60 nights a Category 1–7 free night, two more suite upgrades and two Guest of Honor awards. A Category 1–4 certificate books Grand Hyatt Goa or Grand Hyatt Dubai.
Honest take for India: 60 nights is a lot of travel. Most of our readers will get more from Hyatt’s cheap award nights than from chasing Globalist. If you do 30+ nights a year in Hyatts anyway, Explorist is worth locking in.
Hyatt Dining Club: the paid membership
In India, Hyatt also sells Hyatt Dining Club, a yearly membership for its 40+ hotels here. It is separate from World of Hyatt: the fee and discounted bills earn no Hyatt points, and you can’t combine the two.
| Silver | Gold | Platinum | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price a year (incl. GST) | ₹9,000 | ₹17,519 | ₹22,419 |
| Dining | 30% off for 1–5 guests, 25% for 6–10, 20% for 11+; 20% off select alcohol | ||
| Free night with breakfast | – | 1 | 1 |
| 50% off a 2-night stay | – | 1 | 2 |
| Suite upgrade | – | 1 | 2 |
| Rooms | 15% off standard rooms, 20% off suites | ||
Our pick: Silver if you only want the dining discount (it pays back after about ₹30,000 of food a year); Gold if you’ll use the free night at a Hyatt in your city. See how it compares with Accor+, Club Marriott, Culinaire and Epicure in our paid hotel memberships guide.
Hyatt and Aeroplan: the 2026 partnership
Since July 2026, World of Hyatt and Air Canada Aeroplan are linked. We compare the Hyatt route with Marriott’s in Aeroplan status via hotels. What matters for Indians:
- Hyatt to Aeroplan at 2:1 (minimum 5,000 Hyatt points), better than Hyatt’s usual 5:2 to other airlines. Still a loss: ₹1.50 points become half an Aeroplan point worth ₹0.65. Use it only to top up a Star Alliance award. To see which airlines Aeroplan and other programmes can book, use our Airline Partner Map.
- 500 Aeroplan points per stay instead of Hyatt points, if you link the accounts. Worth it only on short, cheap stays.
- Dual earning offer (14 Oct 2026 – 14 Feb 2027): register by 11 Nov 2026 and earn 1.5 Aeroplan points per US$ on paid Hyatt stays, on top of your normal Hyatt points. Link the accounts but keep your Hyatt earning preference as Hyatt points. A ₹20,000 night (about US$210) adds roughly 315 Aeroplan points, worth about ₹410. Award stays don’t count, and the Aeroplan points can take up to 8 weeks to post. Details in our Hyatt × Aeroplan offer post.
- Aeroplan status challenge for Hyatt elites (from 14 Oct 2026): Explorists can earn Aeroplan 25K, and Globalists up to 75K, by flying Air Canada within 90 days. Star Alliance Gold at 50K means lounges on Air India, Lufthansa and Singapore Airlines. The full numbers are in our Aeroplan guide.
- Hyatt status challenge for Aeroplan members (4, 10 or 20 nights in 90 days for Discoverist, Explorist or Globalist): Hyatt describes it for Canadian Aeroplan cardholders. We couldn’t confirm that Aeroplan elites outside Canada can register, so don’t count on it.

One partnership is ending: American Airlines and Hyatt are winding down their link. AAdvantage choices in Milestone Rewards end on 31 Dec 2026.

DealUni take
Hyatt is the hotel programme Indian readers ignore because their cards can’t reach it. That’s a mistake. India’s Hyatts sit in low categories with high cash prices, so a few thousand points regularly buy a ₹25,000–40,000 night. With free online transfers from today, pooling family points is finally painless. Earn on every Hyatt stay, pool, and buy only the gap for a specific booking.
Hyatt ke points kam milte hain, par har point ki keemat zyada hai. (You earn fewer Hyatt points, but each one is worth more.)
