Aeroplan buy points screen showing up to 30% off tiers, with an Air Canada plane at sunset

Ended: Aeroplan Points Up to 30% Off: Skip It From India

📅 Updated as of 13 Oct 2026

⛔ Deal Ended — the Aeroplan points sale closed on 13 Oct 2026. We’ve kept this post for reference, since Aeroplan runs these sales several times a year and the maths still applies to the next one. Aeroplan is now running a much better sale, up to a 90% bonus until 29 Oct 2026: see our maths on the 90% sale.

Correction (15 Oct 2026): Aeroplan prices by distance flown. Nonstops under 4,000 miles, such as Delhi–Vienna or Delhi–Frankfurt, cost 40,000 points in business; connecting trips that fly further, such as Mumbai–Budapest via Cairo, cost 70,000. We’ve updated the example below to a real 70,000-point search.

Updated as of 12 Oct 2026. Ends 13 Oct 2026. Rupee figures use US$1 = ₹96.34 from our FX sheet, plus a 2% forex markup and GST on it. We value Aeroplan points at about ₹1.30 each.

Air Canada is selling Aeroplan points at up to 30% off until 13 October. The bigger the purchase, the bigger the discount. But even at the best tier, an Aeroplan point costs Indians about ₹1.83, more than it’s usually worth to us. Here’s when it still makes sense.

The maths

Take a business class award from Mumbai to Budapest, which we found for 70,000 points + CA$83 (about ₹5,550) in taxes on EgyptAir via Cairo, plus Aeroplan’s CA$39 booking fee. Buying all 70,000 points at the 20% tier costs about ₹1,45,600. Add the taxes and fee and you’re at roughly ₹1.54 lakh one way. That only beats paying cash if the business fare on your dates is well above that.

Moving points from your card is far cheaper. HDFC Infinia and Diners Black, Axis and HSBC cards all transfer to Aeroplan. See our round-the-world guide for the card list.

Who should buy

You are…Do this
Short of points for an award seat you’ve already found✅ Top up the gap, but only if bank transfers won’t arrive in time
Holding HDFC, Axis or HSBC points❌ Transfer instead. It’s far cheaper
Buying to “keep for later”❌ Don’t. Award prices change and you’re paying more than the points are worth

One more catch: purchases go through Points.com in foreign currency, so you pay forex markup and they won’t count as travel spend on your card.

Points tabhi khareedo jab seat pakki ho. (Buy points only when the seat is confirmed.)
